Air Italy discontinuing India flights from Feb 2019

Air Italy had announced its India flights in April of last year. The airline would operate flights to Mumbai and Delhi from October 2018. In October however, it significantly scaled down its launch and pushed the date back, finally beginning operations in December.

Now just a couple of months into the operation, it appears that the airline will be discontinuing its operations to the beginning next month. Air Italy has closed it’s Mumbai reservations from 18 February 2019 and Delhi reservations from 31 March 2019.

Unfortunately, the airline has not been able to command enough yield on this sector with tickets selling for between INR 29 to 32,000, and with not too many connecting options a significant amount of Air Italy’s load depended on O&D traffic. However, with the airline launching new flights and connections to the US, it should have been in a position to capture more loads in the coming months.
