Boeing’s 737 MAX 9 completed it’s first flight today. The aircraft piloted by Boeing Test & Evaluation Capts. Christine Walsh and Ed Wilson completed a successful 2 hour, 42-minute flight, taking off from Renton Municipal Airport and landing the nearby Boeing Field.

The flight of the brand new 737 comes just around 50 years after the first flight of the first 737 which flew on 9th April 1967. The MAX 9 is the second varriant of the 737 MAX to enter production and is scheduled to begin deliveries in 2018.

The MAX 9 is powered exclusively by CFM International’s LEAP-1B engines.

The 737 MAX 9 is the second member of Boeing’s industry leading 737 MAX family, with a maximum capacity of 220 passengers and a range of 3,515 nautical miles.
