Etihad Airways opens new premium lounge at Melbourne airport

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has opened a new premium lounge at Melbourne airport. As the airline’s largest premium lounge outside Abu Dhabi, it is over 800 square metres wide in space and can seat up to 133 guests. It is also filled with natural light flowing in through the floor-to-ceiling glass, guaranteeing an expansive view of the runways.

The intimate 26-seat dining area in the heart of the lounge specialises in restaurant-style a la carte dining and an international buffet. Everything on the menu, including cocktails, mocktails and aperitifs will be prepared in-house. The sculptural showcase bar also comes with an interesting name for each of the drinks like Flight Path Spritzer, Controlled Airspace, Winglet and Nacelle.

Located in Terminal 2 adjacent to gate 10, the lounge will open three hours prior to the departure of Etihad Airways twice daily Melbourne-Abu Dhabi flights. Access to any passenger booked to an Etihad Airways flight on the same day is mandatory. Platinum, Gold and Silver members of Etihad Guest and eligible members of Etihad Airways Partners and partner airline loyalty programmes will also be able to use the lounge when travelling in Economy Class.

Other amenities include complimentary high-speed Wi-fi, separate male and female restrooms with shower facilities, dedicated ablution and prayer rooms, children’s playroom and a luggage room.

The airline will commence A380 operations from 1st June.
