Jet Airways signs code-share agreement with Korean Air

India’s Jet Airways, and Korean Air have entered into a codeshare agreement and a reciprocal frequent flyer programme partnership.

Under the arrangement, from March 1, Jet Airways will place its marketing code on Korean Air operated flights between Incheon airport, Seoul and Mumbai, Bangkok, and Singapore. Korean Air will place its marketing code on Jet Airways operated flights between Singapore and Mumbai and between Bangkok and Mumbai and New Delhi.

Additionally, the frequent flier members of both JetPrivilege and SKYPASS programmes will get mileage accrual and redemption across the entire network of Korean Air and on Jet Airways.

This move further consolidates Jet’s move towards the SkyTeam alliance of which Korean Air is a member along with Delta, Air France, and KLM. Jet Airways is shifting its European scissor hub to Amsterdam and will align flights closely with KLM. Etihad Airways of Abu Dhabi, a 24% stake-holder in Jet Airways, also has some alignment with Air France-KLM.

The rumour mill has it that starting in the Winter 2016 schedule, Air France and/or KLM may withdraw from certain stations in India and let Jet Airways carry the traffic. We emphasize that this is merely speculation, and not yet confirmed.
