Breaking news: Krishnan Balakrishnan leaves Jet joins GoAir as CFO

Another senior level departure has hit Jet Airways. Krishnan Balakrishnan, Vice President fleet management and controls is joining the Wadia promoted GoAir as Chief Financial Officer.

An internal announcement at GoAir says “We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Krishnan Balakrishnan as CFO with effect from Sept 16.”

Balakrishnan is a chartered and cost accountant with 22 years of experience, most of it in the aviation industry. He was in Jet Airways in leading roles across financial controls, MIS, treasury, fleet management and key member of the strategic growth initiatives team.

We await Jet Airways’ reaction as we are rushing to publish this breaking news.

    In hindsight it seems but logical : There is very little to do in Jet with limited aircraft deliveries and existing aircraft being leased out. Moreover his autonomy is extremely curtailed at Jet given that Etihad essentially holds the remote control. Go-Air on the other hand is seen to be wavering after Roni’s exit and needs experience and vision at the top. It becomes even more important considering that the 2016 will see the beginning of the 72 A320 NEOs ordered by them.
