Silk Way Airlines receives two Boeing 747-8F freighters

Baku, Azerbaijan based Silk Way Airlines recently took delivery of two new Boeing 747-8F freighters. Both these aircraft were parked on the flight line during my recent visit to Paine Field in end July. In cloudy conditions the metallic blue of the livery which resembles a bolt of silk, looks muted.

Silk Way Airlines is considered as one of the leading cargo carriers in the erstwhile CIS region, providing full-fledged services to Europe, the United Kingdom and Middle East, as well as the Far East including South Korea, China and Hong Kong.

Silk Way also serves other destinations through a network of alliances, operating 747-400 Freighters and 767-300 Freighters.

About 49 747-8F freighters fly in the sky today.

  1. Their main stable has been IL-76 and An-12. IN middle-east, virtually all airports have their IL-76 making daily trips. B747-8F is a welcome new addition to their fleet.
