SpiceJet appoints Tigerair’s Kaneswaran Avili as chief commercial officer

Gurgaon head-quartered low fare carrier SpiceJet Ltd today announced the appointment of Mr. Kaneswaran Avili (“Kanesh”) as its Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). Kanesh will take charge effective April 1.

He has worked for 12 years in the highly competitive world of low cost airlines in Asia, and was part of the start up team of AirAsia in 2001. Avili played a pivotal role in the airline’s cross border brand expansion into Thailand and Indonesia. He then partnered the founders of AirAsia to start no frills hotel chain, Tune Hotels, and financial services business, Tunemoney. He then moved to become an independent aviation consultant and took up various consultancy assignments in Macau, Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia, before joining Tigerair in Singapore as its Commercial Director in 2012.

    Isnt this the second time, an ex-Tiger Air executive has been tapped into SpiceJet management after SpiceJet announced a partnership with Tiger Air?. I think something is cooking. Your thoughts Devesh?
