Airbus unviels a new logo, delivers new A320 to Libyan Airlines

Airbus has unveiled a new corporate logo, the first update since the company’s creation in 1969.

The new logo retains the original ball-shaped symbol, while incorporating the modernised typeface adopted by the company’s EADS corporate parent.

The ball-shaped logo is composed of two sets of three curved lines that join at an imaginary horizon line, which represents the unification of the three founding companies into Airbus — Sud Aviation, later Aerospatiale of France, Arbeitsgemeinschaft Airbus, later Deutsche Airbus of Germany and Hawker Siddeley of the United Kingdom.

The European airframe manufacturer also delivered to flag carrier Libyan Airlines the carrier’s first of seven ordered, new Airbus A320 aircraft. The new CFM powered aircraft is equipped with On Air in-flight connectivity services and is designed for configuration flexibility by fitting of several rows of convertible seats that enable the carrier to choose from the standard two class configuration with 32 business class seats and 108 economy class seats to an all economy cabin seating 156 passengers.
