As the annual meeting of the airline body International Air Transport Association (IATA) commenced in Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, the news for Boeing India chief Dinesh Keskar is not good.
Both Jet Airways and Air India, his two major customers in India, are considering deferring the deliveries of their Boeing 787 Dreamliner orders.
Jet Airway’s chairman and founder, Naresh Goyal, said the airline is “looking into” delaying delivery of its ordered ten Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft
The Chairman and Managing Director of state-owned Air India Mr Arvind Jadhav was far more direct.
“We are looking at options including rescheduling,” “I don’t have cash, what do you expect me to do?”
Air India which has over $8 billion worth of planes on order from Boeing, including 27 B787 Dreamliners, is severely cash strapped while awaiting government of India action on it’s financial bailout requests of equity infusion and soft loans.
