Pictures: Iron Maiden’s new Ed Force One

British metal band, Iron Maiden have unveiled their new tour aircraft. Like it’s predecessors this plane also bears the name Ed Force One. The new airplane is TF-AAK a 13 year old Boeing 747-400 belonging to Air Atlanta Icelandic. The 747 has been painted in a special livery for the band’s ‘The Book of Souls’ world tour. The tail is painted with the face of Eddie – the band’s mascot and behind the nose there is a list of all the cities on the tour.

Iron Maiden was previously using Boeing 757-200’s from Astraeus Airlines which had been specially converted into a combi setup to ferry both the band and their equipment. The immediate predecessor to the new airplane was G-STRX and before that was G-OJIB.

  1. Unbelievable that a rock band, that is not the Rolling Stones or Coldplay, can afford a 747!

Strange news that there will be direct flights from Jaipur to Pune! Would it not make more sense to have Goa to Jaipur flights as Goa airport is busier than Pune, plus Jaipur and Goa are tourist destinations.

    • The vocalist is a pilot as well andused to fly for the now defunct Astraeus.

A few years back they leases a 757 and flew the world with it and twice to India [Mumbai in Feb08 and Bangalore in Feb09

    • It’s a 13 year old B747 so price would have been cheaper than maybe even new B737, LoL.

And Jaipur to Pune flight is related to what ? Seems some mistake in posting. Pune airport can’t handle wide bodied planes like B747 as Pune doesn’t have civil airport but uses IAF station.
